The National Identification Authority (NIA) wishes to inform the general public that it will open additional registration points for the Ghana card from Monday , 21 st February 2022 to Tuesday, 31 st October 2022.   Ghana Card Online Registration 2023-2024  Ghana Card Online Registration 2023-2024    The Ghana Card is a national Identity card that is issued by the Ghanaian authorities to Ghanaian citizens both resident and non-resident, and legally and permanently resident foreign nationals. It is proof of identity, citizenship and residence of the holder. The current version is in ID1 format and biometric.  The National Identification Authority (NIA) is to begin the registration of Ghanaians below age 15 starting 2023. The move follows the decision by the Minister for Communication and Digitization to extend the SIM card registration exercise to September 31, 2022 to allow more Ghanaians to acquire the Ghana card which is the only document required. The NIA was set up in 2003 under the Office of the President with the mandate to issue national ID cards and manage the National Identification System (NIS). This resulted in the passing of the National Identification Authority Act, 2006 (Act 707) to give it the necessary legal premises on which to operate.
